Beyonce nation has spoken. Public enemy #1 is officially Roseanne Barr.
Anyone who knows anything about Roseanne knows that she is not a person to shy away from controversy. Also, she has no problem telling people exactly what she thinks of them and does on a consistent basis. But her “I don’t give a shiz” attitude has landed her in hot water with fans of Bey, after she went on a Twitter rant insulting the diva.
In Roseanne’s opinion, President Barack Obama was wrong to ask Beyonce to sing Etta James’s iconic At Last song at his Inaugural Party in 2009, rather than asking Etta herself. After Etta’s passing was announced, she quickly rehashed the issue on her Twitter page, showing no mercy to the President or Bey. She wrote:
“I lost ALL respect for Obama when he dissed Etta James in favor of Beyonce.
I have not listened to anything Beyonce or Jay z has said or recorded since they did that to Etta. Their arrogance was disgusting.”
And with those sets of 140 characters, a war was born. Beyonce and Jay-Z fans across the Twittersphere came hammering down on Ro for her comments, relentlessly tweeting her back with as much malice as they could muster.
Which is why, shortly after she tweeted her thoughts on Beyonce, she followed up with a Tweet about Beyonce’s fans, saying:
“Beyonce’s fans are really ignorant-she should not be proud of entertaining drooling mutants!
just finished telling all of beyonce’s cheesy stupid a– fans who slammed me to go and f— themselves! It was fun!
Fun? No. Bickering like this shouldn’t be fun.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and regardless of where you stand on any issue, name calling and hate doesn’t solve anything. Can’t we all just be a bit more considerate of one another?
